DESCRIPTION:James Bishop & Cameron O’Connor Perform at Casa Della Zisa \nJames Bishop\nJames Bishop-Edwards is an accomplished performer with a rich and varied traditional repertoire and contemporary genres as well. James plays historical instruments of the Renaissance and Baroque periods such as the five-course guitar and eight-course lute.  He was head of the Guitar Department at Southern Oregon University in Ashland for several years\, and previously on the faculty as Guitar Instructor at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. \nCameron O’Connor\nJames has over twenty recordings to his credit\, which feature his arrangements of American and European classics.  Six books of these arrangements have been published by Mel Bay Publications.  A few of his many performance credits include: featured artist at the 1999 and 2005 La Guitarra California Festival\, the Santa Barbara Arts Festival\, Richard Schneiders’ Lost Mountain Guitar Festival\, and soloist with the Santa\nBarbara Chamber Orchestra and Jefferson Baroque Orchestra. \nAward-winning and critically acclaimed\, Cameron O’Connor recently returned from a series of concerts in Japan\, is the head of the Guitar Program at Oregon State University. Cameron in the Director of Guitar Studies at Oregon State University. \nCameron graduated cum laude from California State University Northridge\, where he studied under Ron Borczon\, Ronald Purcell\, and Steve Thachuk. He recently received his Master Of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City\, where he studied with Sharon Isbin. O’Connor studied with William Kanengiser while working on his doctorate at the USC.

He is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of São Paulo where he studied under Sharon Isbin and Edelton Gloeden respectively. He has also studied with Preto Moreno as well as being a mentee of Paulo Martelli. KOUYOUMDJIAN’s program will feature music from his homeland Brazil and his family’s ethnic origin Armenia. \nSince winning the XXI Souza Lima National Guitar Competition in São Paulo\, Brazil in 2010\, Kouyoumdjian has been building a steady international performance career that has spanned the United States\, Brazil\, Europe and Africa. Among his concert engagements\, noted stops have included Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, Lincoln Center\, and the Metropolitan Museum. He has also performed as a guest soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Yerevan\, Armenia.

Her flamenco pilgrimage took her to Spain where she studied at Matilde Coral’s Academy in Triana & Mercedes Ruiz in Jerez. Mark’s pursuit of flamenco took him to Spain where he studied under the tutelage of flamenco guitar masters. The mentorship training he received directly infused his knowledge and passion for the art of flamenco song and dance accompaniment. After he began his studies in flamenco guitar\, his understanding of the importance of falsetas within the flamenco performance grew. Mark held a position of flamenco guitarist at the University of New Mexico and he toured with the second company of María Benítez. He was the music director for Solo Flamenco‘s Arts Academy\, where he taught flamenco guitar and serves as the primary guitarist for El Cuadro Solo Flamenco. \nDr. Peter Joseph Zisa is an acclaimed performer on the six and eight-string classical guitar. His performance career\, which started at age thirteen\, has taken him across the U.S. and abroad.
